More development applications are happening in the local area, this time for the vacant site at the intersection of Wardell Street and Samford Road, Enoggera.

Designed by @kpaarchitects, the proposal is for a restaurant, butcher and cafe within a new 2-3 storey building. The butcher and cafe would be located on the ground level fronting Wardell Street, and levels 1 and 2 would house a large restaurant.

We'll definitely be keeping tabs on this interesting development.

We've all seen a council e-scooter or two parked in a very random place. Now, there's a plan to round those scooters up, making easier for riders to find and park scooters.

Brisbane City Council has started installing decals to highlight e-mobility parking hubs in areas of high demand, like here in the CBD. These marked e-mobility parking hubs aim to keep footpaths and roads clear, safe and accessible for pedestrians and road users.

The Lady Musgrave Trust is leading the development of a purpose-built housing complex for young parents in Logan City, with support from corporate, community, and government organisations.

This innovative design has been shaped by incredible young mums from Logan with lived experience of disadvantage and homelessness. Their insights have guided everything from the layout of the physical spaces to the interior design and the broader vision of providing both safe housing and high-quality support.

Construction is now well underway, with the roof on and lock up before Christmas and project completion in February next year.

Last month, Brisbane City Council released updated flood maps for the city. As a result of new hydrological studies, more than 8000 properties will be reclassified on the maps – and almost 1000 properties will be removed altogether.

Sherwood Arboretum is a heritage-listed green space site which was established as a habitat for Australian native trees way back in March 1925. The Arboretum covers an area of 15 hectares and has one of Australia’s biggest plantings of native trees, representing approximately 250 species.

As part of its 100th anniversary in 2025, @brisbanecitycouncil is undertaking improvement works, including a new, nature-inspired play space located under the expansive fig tree canopy, which has just opened to the public.

The Arboretum is an interesting collision of historical and modern green space preservation, and it’s well worth checking it out.

Last month, a development application was lodged for a new hotel, entertainment venues and recreation space at Howard Smith Wharves.

It’s a bold vision to extend the existing precinct along the Brisbane River waterfront, some of the DA details include:

The new greenfield growth hub of Waraba, located west of Caboolture, is set to become a significant regional hub. Formerly called Caboolture West, Waraba will grow to accommodate around 70,000 residents in 30,000 homes over the next four decades. The city's name comes from the Kabi Kabi word for "burn," reflecting traditional Indigenous land management practices.

The first suburb of Waraba is Lilywood, where the initial residential project, Lilywood Landings, is being developed by the Lennium Group. The plans for the 70-hectare estate include over 700 lots, parks, walking trails, and conservation areas along the Caboolture River. The development will offer affordable housing options, with land prices starting under $300,000, suitable for three- to four-bedroom family homes.

Future plans for Waraba include six schools, multiple parks, and neighborhood hubs, with the aim being to build and nurture a family-friendly community.

The state government has also declared of Waraba as one of Queensland’s newest Priority Development Areas (PDA). It will be interesting to watch this development in coming months and years, as ultimately a new city the size of Mackay is created north of Brisbane.

For the second year in a row, Brisbane’s The Calile Hotel has been named in The World’s 50 Best Hotels awards – ranking No. 25 and being named Best in Oceania.
